Help us help you! Our goal is to provide you with the quickest, most accurate quote possible so
that you can continue to move forward with your project. Since we are 3D data driven, the fastest way
for us to quote you is with 3D data only from our on-line form. So that you
know that we have received your RFQ, you will receive an e-mail
acknowledging that we have received your RFQ.
- Why 3D data only? We do not need prints to make parts. The 3D data contains almost
everything Rapid needs to quote and fabricate your part(s). The exceptions are quantity, material type,
and if desired any finish options, welding and tapped holes. We ask for this on our form so you don’t have to remember what to include.
- Why does Rapid prefer .STEP files? Converting your 3D data to a .STEP file
locks down your design and ensures we do not unintentionally change design features.
- Why do prints/ 2D data slow Rapid down? It takes time to review the print(s) for special notes, tolerances,
flatness requirements, etc. Many times prints use standard machining tolerances instead of standard sheet metal
tolerances so these may need to be discussed before quoting the part. In addition, if only 2D data is provided,
we can’t use the power of 3D to determine flat size, formability, etc. so this must be done manually.
- What is the best way to send an assembly? The best way is to send us ONE .STEP file of
your top level assembly. Besides containing everything we need to make the parts, it also shows
design intent so we can ensure all the parts fit together, even if they are powder coated.
- Do you need a flat pattern? No, we can create our own flat pattern from the 3D data.

that is directly below each form.
